What Is Dog Massage?

Dog massage or Canine Massage is a clinical therapy used to support and resolve issues in your dogs muscoskeletal system. It is the muscles that pull on the bones to produce movement and the muscular system can house a vast range of painful issues and injuries that can go overlooked or simply blanketed as a `Soft Tissue` problem or injury.

It is the role of the Canine Masseuse to pinpoint the issue and determine the nature of the soft tissue problem (see the conditions page for more info). By releasing painful Trigger Points (knots), reducing muscular tightness and tension, remodelling scar tissue,  lengthening short muscles to re-balance the dog and improving Range Of Movement (ROM), Canine Massage can produce visibly significant results in 1 to 3 sessions.

Dog massage is particularly effective not just for sustained injuries but also for ongoing orthopaedic issues like Arthritis in the dog and Hip Dysplasia, as these conditions will have a knock on effect to not only the dogs posture but also to how they carry out normal day to day activities like walking and getting in the car. The areas of overcompensation that these conditions produce in the muscular system can be debilitating; with Canine Massage the whole of your dogs body is treated to reduce soreness, tension, overcompensation and old muscular injuries.

Massage should only be carried out by a skilled professional who is able to locate and determine which muscle groups are responsible for the pain. By manipulating muscles and restoring their function, massage is a natural method of managing your dogs health and prolonging their quality of their life.
