Facilitated Stretching & Advanced Joint Mobilisations

Orthopaedic Evaluation Precision

Master the application of 26 clinical stretches designed to isolate specific joints, enabling you to identify subtle orthopaedic pathologies and provide objective data to veterinary surgeons for more accurate patient referrals back to the vet and co-management.

Neurological Integration

Deepen your understanding of neuro-muscular physiology by engaging with Golgi tendon organs, muscle spindles, and proprioceptors. This scientific approach ensures you respect the dog’s conscious awareness while safely navigating the physiological limits of soft tissue and joint capsules.

Advanced Manual Mobilisation

Elevate your practical skillset by mastering harmonic oscillations and joint mobilisations. These techniques provide a sophisticated, low-impact method to restore segmental mobility, improve synovial fluid distribution, and reduce hypertonicity through the rhythmic and safe engagement of the dogs joints.

Facilitated Stretching & Advanced Joint Mobilisations Agenda

A comprehensive deep-dive into the practical application of advanced clinical skills.

Clinical Distinction: PROM vs. Stretching

Analyse the critical biomechanical differences between Passive Range of Motion and Facilitated Stretching. We focus on the "arc of movement" and anatomical end-feel, ensuring you apply the correct modality for joint health assessments versus soft tissue elongation and rehabilitation. Differentiating between hand placements for PROM and those for stretching are key in treatment success.

Orthopaedic Isolation & Assessment Protocols

Learn to utilise a huge set of stretches as high-level assessment tools & treatment tools. You will develop the competency to isolate individual joints, testing for structural integrity and identifying muscular versus capsular restrictions to refine your clinical reasoning and post-treatment evaluation criteria.

Neuro-Muscular Reflexes & Safety Mechanisms

Study the role of mechanoreceptors in the stretching process. By understanding how to influence the stretch reflex and inhibitory responses, you will master hand positions and structural supports that ensure joint safety while maximising the therapeutic impact of every stretch and mobilisation as well as the timings of each to benefit your canine client.

Integrated Dynamic Flow & Harmonics

Synthesise individual stretches and mobilisations into a seamless, full-body Dynamic Flow Routine. This huge amount of learning material is poured into one flow routine so you also have this alongside your individual stretches for treatment planning! Agonist & antagonist pairing and harmonic oscillations are taught alongside these advanced techniques so you can bring them into your clinical sessions to enhance overall systemic recovery and performance.

Exclusive Professional Development

This course provides the essential toolkit for therapists moving into advanced orthopaedic and sports performance work and is an imperative addition to your soft tissue rehabilitation work. It bridges the gap between soft tissue manipulation and comprehensive joint health management.

Mandatory Pre-requisites:

  • Graduate of the Clinical Canine Massage Practitioner Programme.
  • Active membership in the Canine Massage Guild.
  • Skills Review 1
  • A working theoretical and practical knowledge of canine skeletal anatomy and joint classification to build on orthopaedic testing taught in the Diploma

Workshop Logistics

Join us for a focused day of practical learning in Herefordshire.

  • Woolhope Parish Hall, Woolhope, Herefordshire, HR1 4QS
  • 24th April 2026 | 09:00 – 16:30
